Today in class we got to experience the Minecraft education servers, as well as learn ways that Minecraft can facilitate learning. In the modern world, video games have become so many children’s primary way of entertainment. Therefore, having a classroom that adapts the gamification of academic subjects can definitely be beneficial to their learnings.

I would love to learn more about other gaming options! From what I have seen many companies are making games that are catered to children’s learning. One game I really enjoy is Nintendo’s Scribblenauts. It is a vocabulary-based game that brings to life whatever the children type in. It is a great way to learn literacy and visualize what particular words combination means! Furthermore, the game prompts students to explore different word combinations for different situations which forward students creative and critical thinking, while also having fun!

Another game that I love is Nintendo’s Big Brain Academy! It is a game that requires players to complete simple questions in the shortest time possible. It provides healthy competition with online or local multiplayer. This game allows players to practice all different sorts of skills such as 3D space awareness, reflexes, mental math, language art…etc.

There are so many games out there that can contribute to children’s learning. All we need to do is look and find games that our children are interested in and see how we can further both their knowledge and life skills!
